Sesame Street Introduces First Homeless Muppet

(New York, NY)  --  Sesame Street is introducing a homeless muppet to American children.

The Sesame Workshop is putting seven-year-old Lily and her family out of their home to help offer hope and help to a growing number of children experiencing homelessness themselves.  Lily was first introduced in 2011 to teach viewers about hunger and food insecurity.

For now Lily's story will be limited to Sesame Street in Communities videos and not air on the televised episodes.  There are a reported two-point-five million children in the United States who are homeless.
