Assisted Living Facility Workers Ran Fight Club With Patients: Cops

Three North Carolina women were arrested after police say they staged a fight club at the assisted living facility where they worked. Marilyn Latish McKey, 32, Tonacia Yvonne Tyson, 20, and Taneshia Deshawn Jordan, 26, were each charged with assaulting disabled persons following a months-long investigation by authorities.

Officials say the three women forced some of the elderly dementia patients at the Danby House assisted living facility in Winston-Salem to fight each other while they stood by and filmed the brawls. Two documented incidents occurred in June, and the three women were fired once the complaints were filed.

In one of the videos, a resident can be heard begging for help, yelling, "Let go, help me, help me, let go," while the three women watched, laughed, and encouraged her to keep fighting.

"When you're talking about someone who can't take care of themselves, we've got to give specific attention to that," Lt. Dorn, with the Winston-Salem Police Department, told FOX8.

There were no reports that any of the patients suffered injuries during the fight.

The Danby House issued a statement saying they condemn the actions of the former employees are working with authorities to "ensure justice is served."

"Danby House has a zero-tolerance policy for the mistreatment of those in our care, and as such, McKey, Tyson, and Jordan were terminated immediately in June when community management was alerted to this situation. Administrators have been working closely with the Winston-Salem Police Department throughout its investigation to ensure justice is served. Additional staff training and a more rigorous vetting process for all new and existing employees at Danby House has been implemented."
